1) Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Lakeisha. A fellow New Yorker who's been in the beauty industry since 2014. I love most, if not all, things beauty. I am a mother and a wife. I've been a practicing Esthetician since 2017. Currently navigating motherhood, career and family life all at once without looking like any of it is aging me faster than I need to be LOL.
2) How do you ritualize your skincare routine?
I keep my ritual pretty simple these days. Gentle cleanser, Mist, Hydrating serum, a thick face cream from La Roche-Posay and SPF during the day. I try to massage my face as often as I can, preferably at night.
3) How do you begin your day with intention?
Honestly, I snooze my alarm, check the baby monitor from my phone, and say a quick gratitude prayer.
4) What’s your most-repeated piece of skincare wisdom?
Hydration and locking in moisture are key to many of our skin issues. So, always make sure you have a gentle cleanser, hydrating mist and a moisturizer (bare minimum) wherever you go.
5) Your philosophy on aging?
I think aging is beautiful overall because aging is a result of all the years you get to spend on earth. Then there's embracing how we age, which is different for everyone genetically. So far, I am enjoying "aging” not just because of how I look, but because it gives me more time to become the woman I've always envisioned myself to be.

6) Which skincare ingredient do you swear by, and why?
Epidermal Growth Factors. As we age natural processes start to slow down, like tissue repair. This ingredient aids in cell repair and helps slow down the natural signs of aging so we can age gracefully.
7) What excites you most—and concerns you most—about the direction of the skincare industry?
The skincare industry needs to partner with more estheticians for product development and educational content on social media. Too many consumers are being spoonfed the wrong information on how ingredients work and how products should be used. As for cosmetics, I love makeup so much. I was a professional makeup artist for some time and am grateful for the amount of shades have been available. I want makeup to feel fun again for the everyday woman, especially for genX and millennials. It feels like lately it's been more about calling out brands, which I do agree with to some degree. But, I'd also like us to have fun with makeup again. Be excited about launches.
8)How has IN GROOV become part of your daily rituals or professional approach to skin wellness?
I love the IRIE mist and EVERY MOOD botanical oil. I use it in facial massages and incorporate them into my nighttime or daytime routine, if not both.
