Chronic inflammation doesn’t just show up internally, it manifests in your skin as well.

Hello Friends, Shani Here!

Not only does inflammation make you feel out of balance, it’s one of the main sources of any illness you can think of. While acute inflammation is a necessary defense mechanism, when it becomes chronic, it can damage healthy tissues and overtime can contribute to disease.

One of the most effective ways to support the body is through consistent, daily inputs and what you drink matters more than most people realize. The right ingredients can help calm inflammatory pathways, support digestion, and restore balance from within.

Below are four functional drinks to keep in rotation, each with targeted benefits and simple preparation.

1. Soursop Bitters

A deeply restorative, traditional herbal blend.

Made from soursop leaves or extract, soursop bitters are often used in herbal practices to support immune function and reduce internal inflammation. It's what I was raised on in Jamaica and ultra rich in plant compounds and antioxidants. It’s especially valued for its ability to help the body reset and detoxify.

How to make:

  • 1 cup warm water

  • 1–2 teaspoons soursop bitters (or brewed soursop leaf tea)

  • Optional: squeeze of lime

Stir and drink in the morning on an empty stomach or before meals.

Why it works:
Soursop contains bioactive compounds that may help combat oxidative stress and support cellular repair, making it a strong addition to an anti-inflammatory routine.

2. Warm Clove & Cinnamon Water

Warming, antimicrobial, and balancing.

This powerful duo has been used for centuries for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It’s especially supportive for blood sugar balance and circulation.

How to make:

  • 1–2 cinnamon sticks

  • 4–5 whole cloves

  • 2 cups water

Simmer for 10–15 minutes, let cool slightly, then strain.

Drink warm in the morning or throughout the day.

Why it works:
Both clove and cinnamon are rich in antioxidants that help reduce inflammation while supporting metabolic balance—an often overlooked factor in chronic inflammation.

3. Aloe Vera Drink

Cooling, soothing, and deeply hydrating.

Aloe vera is known for its calming effect on the digestive system, which plays a central role in inflammation. When the gut is irritated, inflammation often follows—and this is where aloe shines.

How to make:

  • 2 tablespoons fresh aloe vera gel (inner fillet only)

  • 1 cup water or coconut water

  • Squeeze of lemon

Blend until smooth and drink immediately.

Why it works:
Aloe helps soothe the gut lining, support hydration, and reduce internal heat—key factors in lowering inflammation, especially when it shows up as bloating or skin flare-ups.

Low on time and energy? I get it. Here's the aloe vera drink I recommend

4. Celery & Mint Juice

Fresh, mineral-rich, and alkalizing.

Celery paired with mint creates a refreshing, nutrient-dense drink that supports hydration and reduces inflammatory buildup.

How to make:

  • 4–5 celery stalks

  • Handful of fresh mint leaves

  • ½ cucumber (optional)

  • Splash of lemon

Juice or blend and strain if needed. Drink fresh.

Why it works:
Celery provides antioxidants and natural salts that support hydration at a cellular level, while mint helps soothe digestion and reduce internal irritation.
